How can i determine whether my A780 has EDGE support or not?

Just bought mine last week, and it said on my order: "A780(china)".
I dont get an "E" , instead i just get "G" when online.. I know there is EDGE support for my network here.
Is there some kind of way too see if there really is EDGE or not on my phone ?

I will post my firmware version number later today.. my battery is currently flat.

This wont be of a whole lotta help right now.. but i have had this phone for a while now. It was dead when i got it and with the help (Blood sweat and tears of everybody here) I have finally been able to Flash and Configure this thing. I have even begun using linux as my Primary OS. (All these years wasted on windows.. Taking a bit to fully learn my Linux.) "ok like anybody cares...sry.. Back to the topic" I can assure you that they all have edge capability. Mine was the non-Edge version before. After i repaired it this last week to full working order i have discovered that I am now using Edge when I logon to Int. E is now displayed on upper bar (when Avail.) and yes it truely is faster than just the G. I will get back to you when i finish my configuring and Locate the Edge activation...
Again im not some super techy guy.. I just really have taken a liking to this Phone and Linux. If i can help at all with any questions i will. Sry for what seems like a waste of your time. Being as, i cannot tell u exactally how to turn it on. But rest assured i will.

hello, i know your device can be in edge networks, but you must have right version of software, because all those phones are edge commpatible, i recomend to conffigure it in your local support service.

i am currently using the a780_r52_g_0d.50.afp_0d.40.b1p with R52_G_0D.50.A7P_0D.35.B2P_T672ZF_L001_S005_P001_GSOA780T672ZD01D_full.shx\gsm_ezx_kernel_p52B
for the nav key configuration havnt had a bunch of time to do the work with it that i have wanted to because i am still missing the USBNET option in setup but the voicemail finally works properly along with the menu options for video and camera while flip is closed. Opera is now working perfectly (cingular) had to do some trial and error for the seem edits but going good so far. couple of main icons (shortcuts) still frozen on main screen but not a huge deal editing ezx_idle.cfg got the shortcuts that i wanted there anyways. also using {OPTIMIZED_SETUP_A780.shx} file to get a better setup configuration. If anybody has a stock phone or one that hasnt been too modded can u please send me a backup of your seem files. Complete would be sweet but even for now i am looking for 0032-0001 i have done some work on mine but a few options have me still testing. I would just like to compare the two.. Thanks in advance for any help with that...

and is it branded?

yes its branded but all you have to do is remove anything you dont want and add american versions of what you do. only one thing left to remove from this branding and thats that Damn logo at startup. But the answer was posted in another thread. But i am step 2 from going to 61 then 75 blah blah blah.. i am upgrading in about 2 hours or so to the gps firmware. And my version of the phone is one of the oldest versions and it does have gps avail. I was able to see the option availiable before the phone crashed on itself the very first time i got it.
I purchased it broken in need of repair off of ebay. Just in case you were wondering..
