Bluetooth Settings, Lock Device

I am using the Sony-Ericsson Bluetooth Headset HBH-300 with my Motorola A780. For what's "Lock Device" check box in the Bluetooth Settings? Bluetooth headset disconnects relatively often while driving the car. What's the problem?

for bonding use passcode '0000'
