I have not touched my A780, since I needed to switch to verizon, but when I dump that company, I'll be looking at a provider that supports GSM.

looks like it is just a theme
Openmoko even for the fic 1973 for which it is designed is still in development.
And the phone they are selling is not yet meant for the consumer but for the developers.

The reason I ask, I am wondering whether to wait till the OpenMoko phone is ready for sale or attempt (have someelse do it) to install openmoko on my A780 once it's released.

I like the A780, but like the looks of the OpenMoko phone as well.

What are the readers/lurkers going to do?

It is just for developers at the moment, and there is limited functionality. Last time I heard about progress (about 6 days ago) the GSM wasn't working --> no phone calles.

There are people working on it and you can see any progress on the A780 Openmkoo section on this forum. You might also be interested in:
