Default A780 with GPS support announced

    Found this (in German):
    http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/61705
The A780 is announced for August in Germany. They may be late but it has an integrated GPS receiver with cool software (http://www.alk.com/copilot/).
    EDGE support isn't mentioned though.
So I assume there are now three versions on the market:GPRS w/o GPS/EDGE w/o GPS and GPS w/o EDGE?
The price is a bit hefty though (500 Euro compared to the roughly 400 Euro I paid).
Does anybody already use the model with GPS?

bummer. I was hoping iGuidance would port their software to Linux.

    Copilot isn't nearly as good

Can't tell if this thing includes a built in GPS receiver or whether it's tied to location based services for cell companies. Article doesn't mention it, but it's a pretty crude Google translation I looked at...

The article clearly states that the device comes with an integrated GPS receiver...

Yes, Heise was better in the past. Since they are sponsored by Micro$oft and $ymantec they are not very precise anymore. Have you red some articles from Jürgen Schmidt there?

I agree that the article could be more precise but nevertheless Heise and its magazines (I'm reading the c't regularly) are the best computer magzines in the world.I think you can say that without exaggerating. And I find the selection of their articles quite balanced among Windows, Mac and Linux.I can't think of a single US or UK computer magazine which can even remotely match them....

Hmm, if I'd only read c't I'd not own my E680i, because I'd think, Linux in there isn't accessible.

A huge time ago there were more precise stuff in there. I don't believe there is any best magazine. Any magazine has it's pros and cons. Shure, it's better than most magazines supported by big marketing agents.

For me as linux expert it's only one more of this "all u can eat" stuff. I'm not interested to read these every year upcoming same boring stuff, how make your linux faster, how make your windows virus free, how make your mac everything, how make your windows blablablurps ...

And if I'm seriously interested in linux articles I read linux magazine or sumthing which are not perfect, but far more precise!

yes, i read lots of computermagazines in the earlyer time too... with the time it cost a lot and und they not so usuable, but sometimes they gives you not bad ideas but most of them are just for windows and its expensive programs...

today days mostly i searching by my self in the net what i need for windows and linux (more on linux yet..) and look more and more what is with opensource and freeware possible before i use expensive comercial programs that i could have for free with a illegal serial or crack like the windows kiddies...

Does anybody already use this A780 model with built-in GPS?

This A780 has GPS symbol on the status bar:

It seems unlikely to me that Moto has 3 different versions of the same phone in production: EDGE, non-EDGE, GPS. I suspect it's all in the software.
