Thinking about an A1600
My poor old A1200 has finally given out on me after nearly 2 years of service. It's actually still working but the hinge broke and after a few months I guess now the wires to the earpiece are broken too. So now I only have speaker phone. It's been a damn good phone and I actually love the design of both the phone and the user interface.
So anyway, now it's time for me to get a new phone. I was looking at the Blackberry Storm until I figured out it didn't have wifi. I'm not spending that kind of money on a phone with no wifi. I've looked at several other phones including the G1, but all of them have some disadvantage I don't like. So I've about decided to just save some money, not worry with wifi, and get an A1600. But I had a few questions before I make the purchase.
Is the user interface of the A1600 pretty similar to the A1200? I found some screenshots of the A1600 and it looks almost identical from what I can tell.
Will Google Maps and Opera Mini work on the A1600 as well as they do on the A1200? Also will the built in GPS work with Google Maps?
It looks like from reading other threads that some people have been trying to get US maps for MotoNav, any success on this yet?
I'm also happy to see mpkg and ekonsole are working on the A1600.
Any disadvantages the A1600 has versus the A1200?
I believe, but just want to confirm, the A1600 supports EDGE out of the box, right?
I appreciate any info or commparisions of the phone anyone could provide.
Thanks,
David
