Lightbulb FYI - About A1600 Memory

just in case someone doesnt know, the a1600 advertised 4gb maximum size of sd card can be increased to 8gb and possibly more. the phone will only read 3.4gb but will use the entire 8gb. i have not seen any discussion about this and when i searched the web, only found a few people asking the same question without answer. So, i bought an 8gb sdhc transflash card and it works which will be awsome if anyone figures out how to add U.S. maps to it (China map is kinda borring in the states). just figured i would share that in case some were not sure.

a1600 can only detect 4gb of 8gb memory but 8gb works ,for example it says 6.8gb of 4gb ,you also have a problem with mass storage mode when you`r using more than 4gb of 8gb memory
8gb transcend :detected only 4gb
8gb sandisk : detected only 3.4gb

to partition the sd, this card has to be recognized as "local hard disk" in windows. This way, you can use partition magic, but it's not needed.
I prefer the windows hard disk utility... (right click on "computer" then go to "manage" then use disk managment utility or something like that).
on some motorola phones, putting the USB to mass storage mode show you such a "local hard disk" device on the computer suitable for such operation.

In a card reader there is 99% of chances that you'll see "flash memory" or "memory card" "usbkey".... That will not work as we want it to.

For most of the other card readers, i believe you must use linux, and GNU Fdisk.
There is Andlinux, if you don't want to install linux definetly on your computer.
