hey elcat,
can u elaborate on the prob u r facing.... i am also a new A1600 user.... but thanks to the superb stickies in the A1200 forum.... i faced no issues....
Firstly u shud install mpkg 3.0...... thats the basic reqt.... are you able to do that?

Try a Master Reset

Try a Master Clear, and download the application again freshly ,this should work i had the same problem for google maps india version
