This is a useful app that I would be interested in. Developers please jump on this. Let me know what I can do to help.
Mobile Gmaps was installed successfully on the A1200 using generic 53P. And it can work by installing Navizon with uses cell towers to pin point your gps location. Navizon released a java applet that said it may not be compatible with all phones. I tried installing it and it does not seem to want to install. Navizon.jar and .jad files say installation failed Package invalid. Not sure if someone out there can get it to work. It was just the free trial version on http://www.navizon.com/download.htm I seems like they just released this java version within the last couple of weeks. It would be cool if it worked.

When you flirt with death, you run the risk that death has something more serious in mind.
one more person interested in this application. If we can use MGMAPS with Navizon to use regular phone cells as GPS would be great.
Also if someone knows how to save maps in Transflash for MGMAPS would be great. I would always use the same maps so there is no reason to connect to internet to download maps everytime. Only when needed.
Okay so I got tired and decided to just get the GPT-600 Bluetooth gps receiver. It works awesome with mobile gmaps. Only 49.99 at Geeks.com
So you already got the GPT-600 receiver and it works well with the A1200?Originally Posted by Dbigdada

I have GMaps in my phone but it needs to use GPRS to download the maps everytime I use.
I have bought a Holux GPS and it will arrive next week.
Until there: do you know if GMAPS can work with maps from the transflash? or any other application so I don't need to download the maps everytime I need.
godzeus101, it works great with the GPT-600.
ericksoares, not sure if you can download maps but you may be able to find that info on mobilegmap website. But there should be an option in mgmaps that says where am I? and it should point to you on the map. The only downside is the map does not move with you you must move manually or click on where am I?
I have been using mgmaps on my A1200 with a Holux 236 for the past 6 months. It works great and I highly recommend it.
Mgmaps cannot store maps on the transflash as that would violate Googles usage agreement, so you MUST use GPRS or Edge to access map tiles.
You can search for places and get directions, which will overlay a track on the map that can be dynamically followed by the GPS marker, either by automatically moving the map with the GPS marker centered, or moving the marker across the map tile (I prefer the former).
It's the best GPS app available for the A1200 and it's free...
Lapwolf, thanks for your info.Originally Posted by lapwolf
My GPS will arrive this week and I'm waiting to test it... I'm still wondering if we can have maps on the transflash card so we don't need to use GPRS/EDGE all the time. That is paying money for the data, much more than paying for an application.
If someone could develop an application to have GPS and maps in the transflash card, I 'd pay for it instead of paying for GPRS.
