I was having the same problem. I've always used the default browser that came with my phone, and I could access the Net just fine. I have the TMobile $5.99 mobile web package. I wanted to try this new Opera mini beta, but when I tried to run it I got an error message that said, "Opera failed to connect to the Internet."
To get to the Internet, I'm using the port 8080 method. My profile looks like this:
Profile name: TMobile
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Timeout: 15 min
Primary gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 8080
Baud rate: auto
Line type: modem
All else default.
My firmware is 59p (r532_g_11.0.59p), and I was beginning to think that this new Opera just wouldn't run on my phone. However, after changing NOTHING, the 4th time I tried to open Opera it found the internet. Now I'm stuck on the 'analyzing fonts' problem, but at least it found the Internet. Hope this helps.
