    Default Help with Samba

I am able to telnet the phone using putty , SSH , SSHD and it works great , I folowes CLOVIS KKK ' s instructions and it worked perfect .

I cant seem to connect with SMBD tho , (Samba) . For some reason it 'almost' worked once , after I put in the IP I could see the phone folder in windows explorer , but I would get permission denied if I tried to connect to it ... Now I dont even see the folder ...

Any help would be appreciated , Telnet is usefull but Smba is wau easier to handle .. once it s working ...

Well here is what i did when i got this problem

remember this is Linux and u need a user to access the files in samba

For Windows XP (and possibly windows 2k) users

    1. In windows file explorer go to Tools -> Map Network Drive

    2. put in \\192.168.16.2\ in the Folder drop down -->(your IP may be different, mine is 192.168.16.2)

    3. click on "connect using a different user name" link below

    4. in the dialog that pops up enter root for user name and leave password blank

    5. click OK then Finish

now you should be able to access files.

IMPORTANT: once connected DO NOT edit files directly in the mapped folder, always copy the file to local drive, edit and replace original file with edited file. if you don't do this files saved will turn into zero byte files and the file contents are then lost!!

    cheers
