I NEED THEMES INSTALL HELP

I READ ALL STIKIS BUT I DONT UNDERSTAND...
i have 2 files ... OFF and ON.. they are .gif files...
and.. how i install this?.. i dont have the .phm files to use theme instalar programs... :S

and!... if i want to change skins and themes... i use the skin installer and theme installer... and then if i want to change it.. i mus execute the default_skin_theme programe before i install another skin or theme?

Okay I wouldn't use the skin and theme installer. I would use linloader. Linloader will do everything for you.

First you need to install linloader on your phone and restart the phone. I believe once you install linloader it wipes out all of your java apps so you will have to reinstall them. I'm not 100% on that but it may happen. Then go download a theme at www.mototheme.com and download a theme. The theme will be named something like iphone.rar. Uncompress the .rar file on your PC with winrar or whatever decompression software you have. Each theme has a folder and a file. Like this:
iPhone
iPhone.lin

Here's what my themes folder looks like on my phone. Each theme folder has a corresponding .lin file. Don't move these files around:



Move the iPhone folder and iPhone.lin to your TS card. Make a folder called theme on your TS card and put your theme files in there. After you move the files into your theme folder on your phone disconnect the USB cable from the phone. Find the iPhone.lin file on your TS card in the theme folder and click and hold with your stylus until a window pops up and select the very top option. It saids "open with". Choose linloader. Wait like 5 seconds or so. You may here a couple of beeps maybe not. Then restart the phone. Before you install another theme goto setup --> color scheme and install the default scheme. This will erase the old theme out. You have to do this in between each theme install. Thats as easy as I can explain it. Let me know if this works.

This is ok for the first skin installation but..

Changing themes and skins is one of the most common means that users kill their phones. You must not change themes and skins simply by installing them using linloader or else you run the risk of freezing your phone. (This is different from previous Motorola phones where you could simply install additional themes). The reason is the limited space in the ezx_usr folder. If it fills up the memory it will not leave enough space and will freeze the phone when you reboot.

1. Always run Eakrins installer program prior to doing this to clear out any old skins.
2. Create a new folder called "install" (without quotes) right under the themes\ folder on the SD card (ie themes\install) The .lin file copies some text file to this folder during installation
3. Use Program Manager to find the skin's lin file and tap and hold the stylus on the file until the small menu appears. Select “Open with” and choose the loader program (It may take up to 10 seconds to complete - you should hear a set of beeps when done).

This is from "Guide to modding your A1200" in the stickies. I recoment to read the guide carefully or someday after x skin changes your phone freezes at startup and only flashing helps!!

You can use a program to clean out the ezx_usr folder but I've installed over 50 themes on my phone with just resorting back to the default color scheme between each install to clear out the ezx_usr folder with no problems.

Ok, so you are lucky but maybe your 59th will be the last before flashing, who knows?

And maybe for other, who are not as lucky as you, it might be the 5th.

So please use the program that cleans up memory, it's called skin installer!!

Fabikim - Read the updated sticky "Guide to Modding Your A1200" - it tells you how you can create your own .phm file - the file only has 3 lines and all you need is an on and off gif and this file to change the start-up /shutdown screens.

So no need for Linloader!!
