i dont know if it is 2.5mm or not...it has 3 rings on the pin, im assuming thats 3mm? these fit in the MING...
Its a 2.5mm jack.

in that case, it should work on the MING right? but it doesn't, it only transmits sound through one headphone
It has 3 rings, but 4 separate contacts. From pin to base, it goes Ground, Right, Left, Microphone.
If you want to confirm that your 4 contact 2.5mm headphones are pinned out the same (the 3.5mm is regular sized stereo headphone jack) do this:
Take a AAA battery (or AA, but not 9v or C or D) and stip two wires, and hold them on the battery, put the ground of the battery on the front of the tip, because tip is always ground because it makes contact first (which prevents static from killing your sensitive headphones). So ground of battery to tip, and then poke each separate section lightly with the positive lead of the battery. It will pop when you have it correct.
Motorola pinned out their USB cables proprietary, who knows, maybe they pinned out their stereo headphones proprietary as well? If you want to know more about the USB Proprietary charger, see here for a quick explanation:

im so confused...lets start over...how do i know which pins are 2.5mm? it cannot be the ones that fit because i have one that fits, and it doesnt work with both headphones....
your headset has 2.5mm jack but it seems that it has a different pinout than that which can be used on the ming,so probably it wont work, ask some local technician to check the pinout on the original ming headset and the one which you want to use
