Default We got iPhone "Multi-Touch" feature on our A1200 (

Many of you may know this, but here's goes...

Sure, you know that you can view a PDF file or a document by zooming in/out with the side buttons and scrolling up/down or slide left/right with your mini-joystick.

But do you know that you can scroll and slide with your FINGER? Try it. Zoom in on a page and simply press down on the screen and move (or flick) up/down/left/right, you'll see.

This can also be down with your pictures (through Picsel Viewer).

Nice!

This reminds me of the iPhone "Multi-Touch" feature.

Animan, I don't understand.

Maybe this can help clear up the term "multi-touch":

The a1200 screen, as well as most handlhelds, have touchscreens. That means it can read one point being touched on the screen, but not two points. i.e. you can scroll on a picture by moving your finger, but if you scroll with one finger upside down, and with another finger downside up, it will simply scroll in odd ways. This means you can only use one command at a time. You can scroll, but if you want to zoom you need to change your options.

Multitouch is a new kind of technology (not developed by apple, btw, they're just doing a very good implementation of it) where a screen can accept many different points. So if you're scrolling and you touch on the opposite side, it can activate a different comand, and turn the picture around. You can scroll with one finger and then do a gesture with another finger and it'll zoom, no need to change any options.

So no matter what kind of app we get, a touchscreen will never work as a multi touch screen.

That said... I didn't know you could scroll using the screen. Thanks for the tip.

For a better explanation it goes like this...in handwriting recognition mode the current touch screen phones will only recognize one alphabet at a time where as multi touch phones will have the capability to understand a full word.

This is a matter of software only. For pocket pc there is software that can do that (since years).

Animan is right multi-touch means the screen can understand more than one touch at the same time.
On I-phone screen you can put two fingers on the screen and spread them for zooming. For this you need hardware that can read the two fingers. Normal touchscreens can only read the finger that is the first to hit the screen the other will be ignored.

In my opinion the zoom feature in pixelviewer is more conveniant to use than having to use two fingers. But maybe it's possible to do other things with this kind of touch screens.

Yeah, for me phone screens are too small to use two fingers or more. This thing wuold work great on big screens, it's like one more step to throw away your keyboard in future

Here, have a look at what multi touch technology could mean in the near future:

That is the most awesome sh*t I have ever seen (at the link above). I have been using Pocket PC for years and have been using programs in it that could be controlled by my finger(s); but I have never known such technology can be so advanced.

Cool pick Arkaham!

By the way, the topic I brought up here was supposed to be "We got iPhone "Multi-Touch" feature on our A1200 (SORT OF)." It cut off my parenthetical part.
