it means that you have 53p firmware, its the one that I have and seems to be both current and so far, bug free. if you look @ some of the sticky threads you will find out about some of the other firmwares out there. I haven't flashed my ming yet since i havent been able to find a clean copy of 53p to flash back to if i wanted to. as for your promise, it's not necessary, feel free to ask as many questions as you need to, that's what everyone is here for, both to learn and to help. let me know if you need help with phone tools.

What does "flash my ming" mean? Happy that I'm current.

I will try to download the Phone Tools sometime Wednesday evening.

"flashing" is what you do to your phone to change the firmware of your phone. different firmwares have different features and fixes to things that your phone either does or can do. i would STRONGLY suggest that you take a look at the sticky threads (the first three or four permanent topics on this forum) you will find a LOT of very useful information including things that you don't even know that your ming can do yet, and you will find downloads to enhance your experience.

my phone was also 53 p when i bought it. i wont flash it unless there is a way to backup the firmware.

i'm rite there with you binary, i've asked in the forums if theres a way to back up or extract the current firmware or if anyone knows where i can find a clean 53p so i can try some of the others but no one has responded.... i'm gonna try norton ghost to see if i can back up what's on the phone, dont know if it will work but i'll let you know
