    Default why does the ming ask for voicemail number?

    i get a voicemail notification regardless of whether or not i put my VM # in.
    So whats the point of putting it in? is there a shortcut that calls my voicemail box that i don't know of? o_O;;
    (i kind of wished it was to display a visual list of the voicemails...lol, ah well. wishful thiking. ^^)

    Have you setup your voicemail number.. Click on messaging icon, hit options, service setup, then voicemail... Insert your voicemail number there then save... Everytime you get voicemail. just click retrieve and it will go right you your voicemail.

    there is a company that is making a dumb downed version of our beloved MING, that will have a visual voicemail, be locked to cingular, not offer an opportunity for developers and 3rd party vendors to come up with new apps. it will arrive in a shiny case, with an intuitive GUI and it will be called the "iPhone" LOL

    i really have no good answer to your question but thought i could at least provide a little laughter

    o_o i've never had that come up for me when i get a voicemail. i only get a text msg from my provider (Fido) saying how many vm i have unread.
    does a window or something pop-up when you get voicemail? is there a way to manually retrieve messages?

    lol, shush
    yeah i was thinking of the iphone when i typed the 'visual voicemail' part. the iphone api has a reason why its locked to cingular. the visual VM uses a encryption and data wave thats used by cingular. i don't think it WOULD work with any other service unless it was locked to it. It was rumored that Rogers (in canada) will be carrying the iphone. so the visual VM will work. but i doubt unlocked versions of it would work. meh, what do i know. lol
    but a ming should be able to down the line if a proper program was written for it. well, you'd have to know some other info too about the service....hmmm...
