strange, if you click here : http://direct.motorola.com/ENA/Softw...G&language=ENA
you cant select a1200
Interesting, why is the site, about the software update for A1200, there without any description of what it does?
And interesting, why is the other site, for GENERAL sofware update for all phones, doesn't consist of A1200 in the selection?
???
anyone tried this yet? what exactly gets updated?
that link takes you to the main forum page

I updated. I do notice ONE thing different about my A1200: When I turn it off, the phone no longer make that Motorola "turn-on" sound, in fact it makes NO sound at all when I turn it OFF (which is now normal). Before I updated, the phone make that Motorola "turn-on" sound every time I turn it OFF (which doesn't make sense).
I have many Motorola phones, all of them turn off without any sound.
Thus, there may be other things fixed.
toss02, did you lose any data? i read the instructions and is warns of data loss on update.
nodramachicks, no data was lost.
The instruction and warning seem to be for the older model/general model/other less advanced model. The one we have w/Linux OS (mobile version) seemed to update differently. This didn't take 25 to 30 mins as stated. Much less. Just keep your eyes on the bottom right corner of your computer screen to see what is being installed.
After, you might have to go to "USB mode" in "Setup" and change to "Modem" and save it. Then change back to "Mass storage" and save it. All this to have your computer to recognize your phone again. (But even before the update, I had to do this anyway.)
I just feel a little better by doing it--just to feel that my phone is at its optimal, if possible.
Like Alpha stated, there might be a "bigger" or "major" update coming, just like as it implied in the end of updating process.
