New a1200 User - Some Questions.

I should first start by saying this Site it's awesome, and thanks for all the effort done by the Admins/Mods/Members.

I recently purchased my a1200.
I have set everything up to work with t-mobile. ( all great )

I have a couple of questions, please excuse if they have been answered, I have read a lot of this forums in the past days, but some questions haven't been answers, or there is to many confusing regarding these issues.

Question 1:
What is the latest firmware ? and how do I check what firmware am I running currently ? ( links would be great )

Question 2:
Edge or no Edge ? Many Discussions Regarding this, in my Opinion there is no Edge for a1200, but I must say the download speeds are way faster than on my T-Mobile MDA, or some other PDAs I've used.

Question 3:
How do I turn off key tones ? ( Very Annoying )

Question 4:
What Video/Audio Formats are supported ?

Question 5:
Any way to play FM without the Head Set ?

Ok i'll try to answer what i know for the rest other members will help you

Question 1:

how tou know your firmware :
Go to your Dial Pad and dial, WWW008W. To make the W hit the menu button while in the dial pad, then hit insert->insert wait to make the W

Question 3:
How do I turn off key tones ? ( Very Annoying )

go in setup --> Ringer Alert Style --> Click on "Vibe and Ring Loud" (or any other one that you chose) --> Edit then scroll way down , you'll find two features : "touch screen sound and key pad sound" just put them off and save, thats all

Question 4:
What Video/Audio Formats are supported ? ( Very Annoying )

Originaly if am not wrong the supported video format is .3gp but it can support avi if you install Zmplayer ( http://www.motorolafans.com/forums/v...t=5116&start=0 )

I dont know waht are all the supported audio types, what i do know is that the mp3 is suppoorted, and thats the most important for me lol

Question 5:
Any way to play FM without the Head Set ?

I think that someone made a post sayin that it was possible , but i never realy looked into it, just search and you shall find

About Audio and Video formats, i know a1200 support these codecs:
Vídeo - .rmvb(RealVideo) .3gp .mp4 (limited to 320x240 @ 15fps)
Audio - WAV, MP3, AMR, WMA v9, RealAudio, AAC and AAC+

[Alpha43]

or if you use Zmplayer player i get 320x240 at 25 frames.

What is the LinLoader ? what is it's purpose ?

What software can I use on my Linux box to comunicate with my a1200 ?
