Default ming only has 169 sms incoming limit? what?

ok, i find this to be very odd...but when i recieve e-mail i only get 169 characters worth of the full e-mail on my handset (more or less).

now, this IS the fido e-mail i'm talking about, so is this limitation due to them? or my handset?

why do i find it off? well...its a pda-style phone....lol. it should hold lots more characters per e-mail/msg. or so you'd think?

I would say this is a carrier set limit. I'm with Rogers Canda (basically same as FIDO) and I can recieve more then 170, but I told them to set my phone up with the same limits as a blackberry when i had it setup.

check the email settings on your A1200. You can set a download size threshold for each email. Increase that value...

ah, i called up fido and they said their system will only allow up to 160 characters max. they can
t change it from there end. and i asked about the e-mail setups for the client on my phone, and they said the smtp and pop3 info has to come directly from the e-mail provider in question. so they don
't have anything to do with it. they only have the wap and gprs settings. -_- so why am i having problems when i put in the yahoo/gmail/etcc pop3/smtp info in it? something wrong with our phone?

has ANYONE gotten the email client on the a1200 to work? if so, with what service? can you look through your phone and copy down ALL the setup info plz? jus to play copy-cat and see if it works. >_>
cause this is getting ridiculous how i can't check e-mails on my PDA style phone. supposed to surpass the blackberry...yet this is a major problem for the a1200. -__-

I use the email client all the time, I have it setup with my IMAP server at work, it's a cyrus imapd server, with postfix smtp. Nothing specially for the install, just use the internet GPRS proflie from an other thread.

on your email setup settings, tap receive setup, then just increase the message data limit, you can set it to receive emails up to 1MB.

the thing is, the e-mail notificans come thruogh as an SMS. I can't seem to get my e-mail client on the a1200 set up at all. nothing works. i used the same pop/smtep settings fro yahoo on my outlook account and it worked perfectly. but i plugged those same things into the a1200 and nothing ever works.
