All there is in this matter is that you will not find the A1200i firmware for download. So if you had an A1200 and wanted to put the A1200i firmware in it you will need to do it in a Motorola service center.
Hello!
I'm thinking about buying a A1200. But here in Brazil, I have the option to but the A1200i (already with portuguese language) or the A1200.
Any toughts about what should be better? I think there is not many firmware updates for the A1200i... Are there anything in A1200i (about language) that I couldn't have in A1200 + firmware update!?
Thanks!
Márcio.

E ae Marcio?
I'm from Brazil too and I was having the same thoughts you are having now. After 5 min thinking, I decided to buy an A1200, not an A1200i (it's about to arrive anytime this week, I hope). There isn't much difference between them, and you may flash the A1200 with a modded firwmare with Portuguese. I guess the A1200 is much more flexible because of that... there are a lot of people working on A1200 FW. I can live with the things that are not working on a flashed A1200 (like word prediction). And I payed half the price compared to the A1200i.
Take your time, read a few posts and you will find what's better to you. Remember, warranty services will be much easier if you buy the A1200i.

Friends,
I am from Brazil and I bought my A1200i here in Brazil, in my opinion this is the best choice because I have warranty.
And all softwares works normally.
Thank you all for the answers.
I´m going for the A1200i, probably, but I don't know if I try to sell my Nokia 6630 first (does anybody in Brazil knows where can I find a faceplate for it?).
I have a A1200i in a good price (not new), but locked for Claro. Are there any way to unlock A1200i?
Thanks!
Márcio.
Right now there isn't a way to unlock it but there might be in the future.
