    So far I have:
    - Trekbuddy running and creating maps for my local city (Brazil)
    - MGMaps running in offline mode and downloading maps from Google Earth
    - Destinator , working only with chinese maps

Maybe we can find someway to convert to destinator map file.

Mobile GMaps is great now, especially with GMapMaker. The only downside is the huge number of files. But I contacted the developer and they are working on it. And it has maps for basically anywhere in the world.

J2MEMAPS seems to talk OK with my bluetooth GPS. I downloaded the only Motorola version for the RAZR V3x

I get my location OK in the compass page, but can not figure out the maps, yet.

I got J2MEMAP online mapping to work. It connected to google maps and downloaded either a sat image or a street map. You can run a script to grab maps for offline mode, I guess. The program has been moved to an online service so I am not sure if development has stopped.

I have been using MGMAPS with Google Maps for me. I have maps for Brazil , USA, Japan, where I'm usually travelling.

I have also used Trekbuddy, but is very hard since we need to create map files every time we need a map.

MGMaps has a script which can download maps and calibration information automatically. This make much easier ! Only downside is that there is no step by step voice orientation. But it already help a lot.

However DEstinator announced v7 which should support LINUX smart phones. IF that is true, it should be able to use regular map format for Destinator.

Did anybody find any Destinator v7 for Linux Phones ?

Do you know how to setup trekbuddy on the ming ?

I have installed it and it works. I have created my maps with the Garmin Maps and a Map Editor.

But I just can't give the proper configuration to load the maps.

I'm using Trekbuddy v0.9.56 with a Holux GPS and it pair nice. I just need to know how to setup the maps to be loaded. Did you do anything special?

I can run Trekbuddy and go to the lower left Menu -> Settins , and in this screen it asks for STARTUP MAP. How do you input the address? I tried many things , such as //mmc/mmca1/Apps/Trekbuddy/Map/ which is where my map is located , inside Transflash/Apps/Trekbuddy/Map/ . Is that right? I tried so many things but none worked at all. So I just can't load any map.

If anyone can give me a hint, because when I try to startup application all I get is :
    "Map init
    cz.kruch.track.maps.InvalidMapExce
    Invalid map URL "//mmc/mmca1/Apps"

If I can have this running in my A1200 (firmware 48P) I can help you guys interested. I have all the software needed to prepare the maps and also some websites where to get the maps for free and prepare for trekbuddy.

So far Destinator is still unknown.

    Phenomenon,

Which software are you talking about ? Because Destinator is available here in the forum for download. Also, if you are talking about MGMaps it is just the generic version. If you are talking about Trekbuddy, there is only 1 version.

    Regards,
sorry for the late answer ,

first of all you have to use havahacker to permit trekbuddy acces to phone files

then you have to go to basic setting and put in Data Dir:
    file:///SD/TrekBuddy

then create in the root of your memory card the following directoryes

    TrekBuddy
    TrekBuddy/wpts
    TrekBuddy/tracks-gpx

    be carefull with caps!

then you can record waypoint and tracks!

    regards!

    PD:sorry for my english!

Can someone help me with the validation key for Destinator?
I could not input the license key string to the internet to get the activation key. What did I do wrong?

    Thank you in advance
