Can´t find any answers!

Hi there everyone!

Well, bought the Ming a couple of weeks ago and im still finding my way arround this baby...

First thing: Firmware

My phone came with this multilanguage firmware R532L4_G_11.40.0FR
Can anyone tell me which version this is, and if i should update it? Moreover, if i update the firmware will i still keep my flex file or that will go too? Can i backup my flex file? Want to put bint´s 24XP crack1 but not so sure, since i cant go back (right?!?).

Second issue: Camera

I cant edit pictures in my computer! Once i download them to my computer the pictures are sort of read only!!! This is most anoying!! And is there a way to make the phone save pictures automatically?!?

- The R532L4_G_11.40.0FR firmware is an unfamiliar version (who is your provider ?)
- Whether to flash or not, is a personal choice !
- The A1200 has one package of firmware, no more flash & flex (as on the Vxx), which controls how hardware & software will impact the phone features
- I am with the 24XP now & I can't go back...(no complains)
- I don't know why you can't edit your picture on phone (perhaps your firmware ?), I can !
- Whether you save your picture auto or manually is pending your firmware version (most of the user will love to have the option of manually save !)

There is no newer version of your fw available. Any fw that you can flash with is english/chinese only (and don't have accented characters on keyboard as yours)! So if you need other language stay at yours.

I don't recomment to flash with 24p this is China Mobile brandet (english/chinese only) and you will not be able to flash with any other after that!

I don't understand why some people here do that!

If you want a cam with automatic pic saving there is 46p generic and 53p debranded CM available 08p will annoy you with the same "feature" that you allready have now (I don't know about 24p but this isn't something to flash with anyway). There is a modded version of 46p and 08p generic that have language pack as yours (browser, realplayer and doc viewer are english though)
But if you can live with your cam maybe it's better to stay with it I can't compare both fw because I don't know yours

First of all thanks for the prompt replies...very handy...

Itzik_man - My provider is "Claro" from Brazil. This firware seems to be one that was released to latin america, since i´ve seen a colombian guy here post something about the same FW. I can edit my pictures on the phone, no problem, but once i move them to the computer, no microsoft application ie picture/fax viewer nor picture manager can modify and save the picture. (could it be linux/microsoft issue?). About the Flex info, very handy since i think all the MMS WAP GPRS settings come in this file...correct?

Mischka - Thank you too, i do need the accented characters since i use my mobile professionally...not nice to send an sms in wrong portuguese...if you can, please send me links to these modded versions of 46p and 53p. The autosave option would be amazing since i find extremelly annoying to lose the picture when you just want to snap the picture close the flip and put the phone back in your pocket...

Anyways....thanks guys for your help...i´ll keep reading the posts and looking for things to do with my new toy...

53p is in the stickies and only is debranded with some mods I don't really know about (but no portuguese GUI/inputmethod there)

Mischka - DEsperatelly need your help... flashed to your version of 46p then again to a version of 08p. The flash works...have a pass message and all... but the top four icons on my phone do not work! Cant make calls acess applications, buttons dont work properly, battery metter is allways on flat.....on both FW... I think that maybe the a1200i is indeed different from the a1200....not only an international version...

Anyway... folks that do carry an a1200i, do not flash!

Mischka if you have any thoughts....please share!!!

It'll be here tomorrow and probably the first thing i would do is upgrade the firmware the same way you did(not anymore). Hope you get you phone back and please keep us updated with your problem.

OK....it isn´t a brick in the wall anymore...whoa....what a relief...Flashed to Bints 24p crack 1 and phone works like a charm.....

absolutelly hate this china mobile icons....but......better than carrying a brick...

Mischka - You´re a life saver...if you find an unbranded FW from bint´s...let me know...and by the way....it would be nice to update the firmware topic mentioning NOT a1200i COMPATIBLE! Cheers mate you really helped me.

Alpha43 - Just a note...it would be quite interesting now to post a new forum...specific for a1200i´s.....it would have saved me a lot of hair!

Ruiz - Don´t flash your phone....keep claro´s firmware, its almost the same, I regret i did. Vc é de SP? Tem uma loja de informatica? ou de servicos? se for acho que te conheco....nao pessoalmente...mas por intermedio de uma amiga...entao....fica com o FW da claro mesmo, eu realmente me arrependi....ta tudo com o simbolo da China mobile pra todo lado! O video melhorou, e tem um leitor de codigo de barras...ma pra que serve nao faco ideia...se vc nao faz questao....nao faca...

I do have another "intact" a1200i still in the box...never used it...do you think that radiocomm or rsd can backup that phone´s software and restore it to mine?

Heard of anything like it before?

It´s not a cheap phone and if i take it out to be serviced i will have to leave a fortune probably....

Yep i am from SP but not the capital, i'm near Campinas. Anyway glad you made your phone work again!!! Only thing i miss is the higher resolution for videos, the original is really disappointing.

I bought mine at americanas.com R$1250, nice deal!
