Default Help needed configuring phone - Cingular

    Hi everyone-
I have been lurking on this forum for a few months but finally registered. I've had my eye on the A1200 for months and finally got it mid-December and i love it. Many of your posts were instrumental in me taking the plunge and getting the phone.

However, i've been trying to get the mms and web browser configured for the past few weeks to no avail. i can do regiular sms, but I've had zero luck with the web browser and mms. I've tried to input various settings that I've seen on this board but noting has worked.

Can anyone help me? I love this phone but want to get it fully functional. barring that, can anyone recommend a place I can take it to in either LA or Portland, OR to get it configured? I took it to a Cingular store and a service facility they recommended and no luckl.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!!

You don't need to take it to a service center to configure it for web browsing.
First of all, not needed to say but, you have to confirm that you are subscribed to an internet/web plan. Second, get the internet profile settings from your cellular provider. Third, carefully put these settings in a new profile you create and then you should have everything working.

thanks samkatta. am i mistaken in believing that i don't need to have the data package for mms to operate? the wap access isn't nearly as important to me as the mms access, though it would be great. i've tried seemingly every profile recommendation that i've seen on the faq's and in the various postings here and on hofo, and no luck.

i'm trying to keep my cool on this, but i'm increasingly losing hope. if anyone can recommend anything (or any place to possibly take this phone to), i'd be greatly appreciative!

Unfortunately, you must have a data plan for MMS as MMS messages are sent and received through Wap and not like the regular SMS messages. Unless your provider is supplying MMS in your subscription plan then you must subscribe to the data plan if you want to send and receive MMS.
