Default A1200 users -- my review and couple of questions!

    Hey Guys!!

I've been using A1200 for almost a month now.. and have gained a LOT of info from these boards

My view about the phone -- I'm beginning to like it -- gotten over the initial WOW factor . Am missing my MDA quite a bit though -- had gotten used to the Windows UI --

    Pros --
    - Looks and feels great!
    - Screen quality is brilliant.
    - Nice Camera (compared to other smartphones in the market)

    Cons --
    - Moto Phonetools is extremely frustrating -- wish there was an easier way
    - Not a lot of apps/games available for this phone (compared to windows mobile).. YET
    - 6Mb of available space ---- reminds me of my razr.. which is not good..
    - Whenever I use it, it feels like I'm using a fancier version of razr. Lemme explain. Without any internet plan (as wifi is not present).. the only uses I get out of this phone is a camera and phone. Cannot surf the net, etc which is something I miss compared to my MDA.
    - Another thing I miss -- and this is important to me -- is taking handwritten notes. NOT handwriting recognition.. but just scribbles and what not.. they're just faster and easier (in my limited perception)
    - Lastly.. for some reason, I'm getting very VERY poor signal.. (seems like a motorola problem

    Now --- time for questions---

    a) How can I choose a network -- manually?
    b) Any way I can save scribbles instead of using handwriting recognition?
    c) How can I copy pictures/stuff from phone WITHOUT using phonetools -- is that feasible?
    d) Any reason why this is better than a windows smartphone? (Not taking stabs at the users -- just trying to understand why you guys love this phone

Thanks guys! And also.. hopy y'all are having a great new year

Keep one thing in mind.. This phone is really more of a smart phone then a actual PDA. Though it has some features of a PDA its not. Its more of a hybrid.

    a - dial pad-> options->setup->network setup->and have fun.
    b- no
c- use the memory card. Put the phone in mass storage mode and drag and drop.
d- Depends your needs.. For internet this isnt as good as those phones.. For other things such as multi-media and mult-tasking without having a brick or a ugly design then the A1200 wins.. Hands down its the best looking smart phone/ PDA in the market.

Why i love the phone you may ask?

Well i like the size.. I had a treo 650 and i think its ugly and uncomfortable.
Picture quality is better then those pda's music sounds better, call quality as well.
I personally dont use internet on my phone so its not a factor. So for me i look at everything else. And i am happy with the punch the A1200 gives in such a small package.

It means that you have firmware 08P. Regarding the phone rebooting by itself, it has been reported before. Are you using any magnets near the phone or a leather pouch that has magnets?

I don't use the phone near magnets anymore..
