Firmware update step-by-step instructions

I haven't had the Ming for too long, but the firmware is the old 06p. I need to update this. However, I have NEVER in my life updated the firmware on any phone. I have absolutely no clue how to do it.

I am a Macintosh user and would like to simply update the firware via my Mac, but I have a feeling that's not going to be an option.

Could someone PLEASE post step by step instructions on how to update the firmware on the phone? I literally need to know what applications are needed, what precautions to take, how to install, everything. I am not a PC user and have never updated firmware on a cell phone before.
