to me ver 0.8p is latest, you can try another ver
I've installed the bint .08p firmware and according to the stickie, it is the latest. However, I see other versions on this forum 43p and the 56p, to me they are newer than 08p, is this true?

The latest known official releases are 08P and 53P (according to the market the phone is released into) and there is a new version (but can't remember the number, you can find it in one of the threads) with which the phone is released into the Latin American market that includes Spanish support.
Is there any way to get my hands on the firmware for the Latin American market? I live in chile but bought the phone on the U.S.A.
Thanks!
The question still remains... How to tell which is latest? To me 53P should be newer than 08P (based on the numbering system). Yes, I saw 59P in one of the threads, this is why I am asking the question.... The sticky said 08P is the latest (yes, you did say OFFICIAL release, this could be why, where all other firmwares are not official).Originally Posted by samkatta
Thank you in advance.
To be honest 53p and 08p are now kind of outdated.. maybe about 2-3 months old. But those are the latest ones we have out to d.l. 59p is chinamobile branded.. All the firmware i have in the Firmware thread are either generic firmware or chinamobile modded firmware. At the moment im trying to get my hands on new firmware for us. So keep fingers crossed.

Thanks Alpha, looking forward to the new firmware.

When you say it is "chinamobile branded" does that mean it will come up in Chinese?
I have been searching the forums, is there any way to get better handwriting recognition? That is my only beef with the phone.

China Mobile branded means that the operator "China Mobile" which is in China has added their stuff to that firmware, like modified icons, wallpapers, startup and shutdown animation of their own brand. All firmwares come with English and Chinese languages (except for the one released in Latin America, up until now it's the only firmware that doesn't come with Chinese language).
Regarding handwriting recognition, I find the A1200 pretty good in doing the job, so if you are having difficulty try to slow the rate of recognition (you'll find it in the setup menu).
Thanks for the info.
I have it slowed down already. I must just be a slob
