want to update firmware

I have 08p firmware on my ming, which firmware shud i update to coz there a lot of threads here, pretty confusing, and how?

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS
i dont know what the hell is this firmware .. and some p thing
just by spending time and reading entries here i have installed mpkg and i wanted to install zmplayer but i dont know what's going on in my phone..after doing that thing ..always open with this ..nothing happens..screen still remains the same ..nothing happens .. and no icon of zmplayer on menu page of phone..
i am using A1200.. and i hate my real player .. i really need one mp3 player i think zmplayer is a good player but i dont know how to install it ..
i did check my firmware version..it is showing like 8p something i dont know much
just tell me each and everything step by step ..please tell me in an easy way not in any complicated way .. tell me everything .. what to do
