I'm 20 years old. Been driving for a little over 5 years now and on average I may enter the car anywhere from 2-10 times a day.
In my driving career I have NEVER left anything on the roof my car and drove away. EVER.
Why is it, that out of my 17000+ times getting into my car and driving off - THE FIRST TIME EVER - leaving something on the top, it had to be my ming? ARGG!!!!!
I looks as if when I hit the main access road and punched it, the phone slid off and hit the ground. The back popped off, battery came out, and the three pieces came to rest in the middle of the road. I was VERY lucky that the main body was IN BETWEEN the two yellow lines. The battery however ended up somewhere in the middle of a lane and got run over a few times. When I got the phone back home to access the damages it looks as if the LCD and everything on the phone starts up fine. When I put the battery in, it'll sit with the "searching" text for three or four passes of the hourglass then reboot. I tried the same without the battery in - she boots fine and stays on but with the error "no battery" (na, really?)
Anyone out there in Ming land feeling generous with their extra battery?

Ouch!!! I feel for you. But considering what happened to your phone the results give a clue that the A1200 is some what ruggedized, because what happened to it would have caused it shattering into pieces.
That just sucks DMainville. Oh, I totally feel your pain. I just got my A1200 a few weeks ago, and I've been babying it ever since. It's good to know Motorola "ruggedized" it (as Samkatta put it).
Speaking of protection, the other day I went down to a local place that sells a protective covering for phones, called "Invisible Shield" www.shieldzone.com . They'll put it on the screen, flip, or complete outer body. The employee showed me his Moto Razr with the complete outer body covered, and began to pretty roughly scratch the Invisible Shield covered body. It didn't seem to make a scratch on it!
It comes with a life time warranty. The down side is that after you (or they) apply the covering, they "recommend" not using your phone for 24 hours. You cure the application by putting it directly under a standard light bulb (turned on, of course).
I wound up having the outer flip, and my screen face covered only. Installed it was something like $25.
You can buy it cheaper online.

Well just an update for the board...
Turns out the battery was dead but the phone was 100% working with a new battery. Paid less then $10 on ebay, shipped. I'm so thankful that it wasn't worse.
The part that has been eating me the most is that I alwasy carry it in a case on my belt. This was one of the days where I decided to wear pants what didn't warrent a belt or the case. Sooo many things went wrong that day =[
All is well now though, just a few scratches and she still works.
