    Default PLEASE HELP! deleting txts

is there a way to delete all my txt messages quickly? my phone is storing 2000+ messages in my inbox & sent folders. when i try to delete, instead of wiping out the entire folder, it does it one by one, sending to the trash folder first. and then i have to delete that folder too.

is there a way to change the setting to where it only stores, for example, 500 of the most recent messages at a time?

    help! this is so frustrating....

i have no idea what firmware i am running...

i have the same menu that pops up. when i click delete all.. it deletes each txt msg one by one, and takes like 5 mins just to get through 20. and it send them to the trash folder, and then i have to go there and delete again. it is really ridiculous! especially when i have over 2000 msgs!

when you open you inbox (or any other folder) click on the button in the lower left side, a menu will pop, one option is Delete messages, this will open another window with all the messages. there is a checkbox in the top that reads ALL, click on that, and hit OK, that's it, all messages... gone

that's exactly what i do.. except that the messages don't disappear.. they slowly.. one, by, one, get transferred from one folder into the trash folder. if there was a way all the messages could just delete all at once that would be ideal. i don't know if it is just my phone that is having this issue....

seriously, it has taken all day at work today to just delete 300 of the 2400 txts that were in there. deleting them all would take forever this way. there has to be something wrong...

yeah, it might be a prob with the phone, when i select the option to delete all my txt msg's, all of them go to the trash bin and from there i can empty it all.

i wish i could enlighten you more on this issue but im clueless. hopefully someone else may have a soloution, if not u might have to upgrade ur firmware, that is if u dont have the latest version.

thx for your reply.. so when you delete all and it goes to trash, does it take a really long time sending them over there one bye one? or do they just all zip over there at once?

When i group delte msg's they go there instantly, but i have only deleted 20 msgs max at one time. nowhere near your 200+ msgs. also the msg's go all together in a pack, not one by one at my end.

also im using 53P for the firmware.

*edit* to check your firmware type via the number pad in the calling menu :

WWW008W (to insert the "W" goto the insert menu and add, lol "insert wait")

it should you some info for a few seconds, to show it again just delete the last "w" and insert it again.

your firmware # is the last 3 digits of the first line.

I let my text messages build up to 100 or 200, and then I checked delete all when deleting them, and it WILL automatically delete them all, but it does so only one by one (takes about half a second each message). It moves these messages to the trash can, which I have to go and empty once again. It still does it one by one, but from the trash its a bit quicker between each message.

So to clear this up, you CAN choose to delete all at once with the check box, but its not instantanious - it sequencially deletes them, which does take some time. Wish you could just purge them all at once. Also, I would understand if they were saved to the sim card, and thats why they were slow at deleting - but mine are saved straight to the phone memory.

    ...nothing we can really do.
