I have used the V600, V620 and the V80 and they all didn't sound the alarm if the profile was on silent or vibrate.
Any advancements on the alarm? I have used my V635 then V3i as my alarm to get up every morning for the past 2 years, and now I have to go out and buy an alarm clock because the A1200's alarm is pretty much worthless. I would always put my phone to silent at night so the phone wouldnt ring, but would still be on so I could see any missed calls. Now, thanks to the alarm being linked to the ring profiles, this isnt possible, and Im not about to leave my phone on "Loud" at night so I can have an audible alarm. How could motorola missed on this feature this late in the game? It just doesnt make sense! thanks!

What I meant by my post is that this is an old consistent feature for Motorola phones. I didn't use V635 or V3i so I can't tell, you clearly know more than I do as you owned them before, however, are you sure you got the alarm sound while the profile is silent without modifying anything in the firmware?
yes, absolutely sure w/ the V635 & V3i. no matter what ring profile you used, the alarm would still sound. You would select your ringtone, mp3, vibration pattern etc, just like you would select the ringtone for your loud, soft, vibe & ring profile etc etc. you can even set the volume for the alarm just like you set it for the ringtone. the alarm was entirely independent from ring profiles, unlike the A1200. far superior.Originally Posted by samkatta
well, turn on your ringer, record silence with your recorder. Make that your ringer under soft ring, and turn up your volume.
This way, when someone calls you you can't hear anything and your alarm will still work.
Good luck.
That is a good idea.
