Thread: 44P vs. 46P

    Default 44P vs. 46P

Just got my A1200. Came loaded with generic 44P. Is it worth flashing to 46P or should I wait for generic 53P. What are the changes between 44P & 46P?

No much difference was mentioned by members who tried both. The main of which is 46P doesn't have the voice mail message bug. Some claim that they felt it's faster, however, I think that this is controversial. Mine came with 44P and I have 46P on my computer but I didn't flash, I'm just experiencing with 44P and waiting in case something new appears soon.

Don't know about 46p, but voice commands seem to work much better in generic 53p so maybe the improvement is also in generic 46p. 44p's dialing used to drive me crazy, made me hate the word "mobile" which i always have to say cauz a lot of my contacts has more than 1 number

also i think one thing i noticed is that if i have a birthday entered for a contact, the date wouldn't be ENTIRELY highlighted on the calendar (ie, the entire day is shaded), in 53p it counts 1 task, so the calendar is much cleaner without lots of spots shaded for birhtdays

I recently flashed to 46P after numerous tries. I will say - that it does work smoother. It seems that the touch screen responds a bit better. Ultimately- I don't think anyone can really tell - but the voicemail bug is gone and that's all I care about. Even the MMS was already configured for me in 46P. Definitely worth flashing -in my opinion.

You have nothing to loose really only something to gain. So while you wait for 53p why not have 46p? Thats what i am doing. And if its because your a little worried about flashing.. A couple of months ago i was also new to flashing now its a breeze. So dont worry and remember me and others are here if you run into a problem.

If you are using email on your phone, you HAVE something to loose:
After I flashed from 44p to 46p, I can't send emails to certain addresses (web.de, gmx.net, maybe others too wich Ididn't try) anymore. With this addresses I now see a message "invalid recipient address" and the mail stays in the outbox!
And I can't see anything other that would be better than with 44p.
If I could, I would switch back

Now I have to say, what I figured out about this:

This email problem has nothing to do with the firmware! It was just at the same time when I had flashed my phone, that my Network changed something in their GPRS connection.
If I use a dialup connection everything works fine! And with my Samsung D730 (S60), where I have changed nothing, it's the same problem.

    edit:
even not the network but my email provider doesn't allow sending while not beeing connected with their own internet connection (to prevent spamers using their server, they told me)

So it's correct: you have nothing to loose by flashing to 46p (only Extreme Snowboarding).
