Default Connecting via Bluetooth in my car

I just got my A1200 (haging replaced my Razr) and after finally figuring-out how to bond the phone with my car, am having 2 issues: (1) With my Razr, it automatically connected to my car whenever I got into it. With the A1200, I have to manually connect the phone by pushing the appropriate icons until it connects-is there a way to have it connect automatically? (2) My address book does not show-up on my vehicle's screen (the Razr did with no problem)...how can I get the address book from the A1200 to show-up on my vehicle's screen?

    1) in the bluetooth devices, click on your cars handsfree device, you'll find an option to make it connect automatically, check the box and that is it.
    2) I don't know about the second problem but it seems like the car handsfree is not fully compatible with the A1200, thus not having all functions that it has with the Razr.

What car do you use? My car also doesnt show the address book. It has been a known thing with alot of pda phones. I used to have a treo 650 and that also didnt allow me use the phone book. So i think its just smartphones in general.

i also have a 5-series, i have a 550i. Anyway so far there is no way to get it on the i-drive system... its sucks but true. You can save your favorites. And one number on the smart key on the steering wheel. I hope that a later firmware will address this issue. But yea i feel your pain.

I'm afraid that this is not a problem on the A1200 side, the bluetooth firmware of the i-drive is the one which needs an update to address the phone's address book correctly.

I dont know about that. One of my clients has a a MB S550. And it also doesnt read the phonebook. Plus since i have gotten my phone i called bmw and asked them about it. And they said the bluetooth was up to date. And the problem is a hardware problem. So thats why i figure a future firmware will fix it up.

I have a 2005 BMW M3, it connected fine with my razr and also with the T-mobile SDA (smartphone) the phone book downloaded and everything

now with my A1200 I got it to bond and everytime I get in the car it connects automatically and says it is connected but when I make or receive a call it will not go through the car it just goes to the phone as if there was no bluetooth connection

I deleted it and re-paired them and still the same problem

    anyone please help

    thanks

contact bmw and make sure you have the latest software for your bluetooth. I think m3 cars have the old hardware for bluetooth. Its not like the 5 or 7 series models. Its a different system. If you want to save a trip to the dealer just press your bmw assist button in your car and speak to them from within the car.
