Thanks for the libtool tip. I got further down the road, but I'm not done yet.

automake and make complain that "configure.in:39: required file `./ltmain.sh' not found"

and automake also complains that "Bluetooth is DISABLED. You must have bluez-libs and bluez-kernel >= 2.3 and bluez-sdp >= 1.0-pre1.", although I do have bluez-libs and bluez-utils installed, and there aren't any bluez-kernel or bluez-sdp packages available for fedora.

i'm using ubuntu hardy 8.04
i've used apt to installed everything related to multysync,opensync, bluetooth. bluez, xml, and all their devel packages
i've successfully installed j2mesync-plugin-0.22 (j2mesync_opensync-0.22.tar.bz2)
but when i'm trying to install the j2mesync_plugin (j2mesync_multisync.tar.bz2)
i'm getting the same error as above
any help would be appreciated

the above errors where because multisync.h in ubuntu is located in a non standard dir
( /usr/include/multisync/multisync.h )
i edited manually the every instance of
#include <multisync.h>
with
#include </usr/include/multisync/multisync.h>
inside the dir /home/gourgi/temp/installation_area/blutot/j2mesync/j2mesync_plugin/src

and installed successfully :
