    Default GPS via JSR179

FPC Bench says the A1200 has JSR179=1.0. What does this mean regarding GPS ability?

I found this interesting so I did a slight bit of research. Apparently JSR179 is a location API for J2ME. Which means if your carrier supports AGPS (Assisted GPS or tower triangulation) then a java app on your phone can retrieve your coordinates. Thats about all I really found out though...

does this mean that we don't need a GPS unit attached to the phone?

Its possible if there was a java app to use this, of course we would probably have to pay the carrier for the use of the agps information

juz means they can find out where your phone is, if the right software is being installed.
