ahh... flashed it?
for some reason i cannot view the phonebook. ive stuck in a few different sim cards, and i still cannot view the phonebook on the sim as well as on the phone itself. please help.
ahh... flashed it?
nope, i didnt do anything to it. it was working fine until the battery died completely. i recharged it and now its acting funny.
yeah my phone is also acting really funny... dunno whats up. Im hoping it'll go away on its own. If not Im going to try to format the TF and hope that it helps. And if that doesnt work, Im going to have to flash that thing....
Thats the only thing I can tell you. Flash it and hope it works, you can read how to do in the forums. Sorry mate that I cant help you more then that, maybe one of the gurus here can help you more.
i was thinking i'd have to flash it also, but i hope it doesnt come to that because i dont want to have to go through the trouble. thanks for ur input jester. anyone else have ideas?
How about pluging it into your PC and restoring a copy of your address book with MPT? It could be a corrupt DB.
You could also try doing other things like backup your phone book, then delete all the entries on the phone, then restore them etc.
Just some ideas for troubleshooting...
i think u could be right valkur. when i click on the messages icon, it says "Waiting for DB..."
do u think that if i restore my address book, i'd be able to view my messages again?
seems likely, does anyone know which files hold the phone and message databases? if so we could delete those, then copy over a default from someone elses phone if they arnt just regenerated automaticly. that should solve the problem.

my experience with E680i is that when the database gets corrupted, the contacts cannot be viewed, nor the SMS. I could not add, delete, nor edit contacts. Asked Moto helpline, was told to master clear the phone. MPT backs up the SMS to the PC, but I don't know if you can put it back into the phone.
At least for the E680i, there is a script to backup/restore the database. However, as contacts, calendar, todo and SMS are in the same file, they all got corrupted. And restore only works with the last good backup you had made (or else all the corrupted data is restored too.)
I don't know if the script for the E680i (in the downloads section) will work for you. Good luck

thanks Elaine! that's exactly what is happening to my phone. i totally forgot about the master clear and i will try and see if that works. i have a backup sim with all my stored contacts so i dont think that aspect will be a problem.
**edit - yeah it worked. i lost everything but now it works.
***another edit - just wondering how DB gets corrupted so that i know not to do it again?
