I was also wondering if anyone else has had trouble trying to keep the chrome part near the flip unscratched? It's almost inevidble with mine. You know where it says Motorola on the top of the phone when it's flipped closed. That chrome piece gets messed up.

yeah, my friend's is also rock solid...

and my silver part is also scratched.. well just a small small little chip (maybe i'm being anal)... but it still bugs me!.. i have no idea how it happened...

i heard there are replacements for the whole lid...
if that's true then there must be a way to tighten it back up

Replacement lids ARE avail, but its only the lid. As for the silver part, there's no replacement yet.

I'm the same way, there is this tiny little dot on the chrome, and it MAKES ME CRAZY!!

I am a contractor, so I put phones through a lot of abuse (I almost didn't buy a Ming because of this). Not so much because of the construction, but from constant use. I have already dropped mine twice in three months, once on concrete (heart stopped both times).
But my lid is still rock solid as well. I do have scratches on the silver hinge. I even have a lot of fine scratches on the lid itself that you can see if you hold it at the right angle in the sunlight. And that's with babying it as much as possible.

I also have some fine scratches on the silver part, nothing on the cover at all. I also baby mine, dropped mine the other day. The corners of my case are open and wouldn't you know that's where it hit! Small scratch, otherwise it's doing well.
Definately recommend getting a screen protector also. Prevent small scratches on the screen from the stylus.
