Default A1200(MING) Automatic Software updater from Motorola

I came across this Auto Update for A1200 (MING) a little while ago. I'm not sure if it updates firmware but it seems promising. I am currently running 44p and the software did not update my unit to 46p, which leads me to believe that some people are lying about it's existence. But it's worth running to see if perhaps your unit does need updating.

    Cheers.

P.S. To all those people who are supposedly running 46p.. Can you take a picture of your phone displaying that firmware version? Just so I don't think you are full of it.lol

There ARE a number of screenshots of peoples' 46P firmware in other threads on this ....

It would seem people are unwilling to share, unable to share, unable to take the firmware off the phone in order to share, or some other factor

Besides, what happens to things like installed apps, saved SMS/MMS, phonebooks, etc ? What happens to someone like me where I live in China and use China Mobile but if I update to a non-Chinese firmware will I still be able to use the phone, send messages, use MMS, internet, etc ....

    Who knows .......................................

After the flash your phone is at square 1. However your phone number and text messaging info should be on your SIM card. Your gprs settings, voicemail settings etc will have to be re-entered.

I dont see why the phone wouldnt still work on China mobile, just like the china mobile version works fine here.

I have flashed several phones in the past. Just be sure to backup your info, you can copy all of your phones information to your PC. Well, this is partically true I guess, it is possible on most motorola models but since this is a Linux based phone I'm not 100%.

Can someone tell me if a complete directory backup of the phone is possible using P2K or something else?

Acefon, Did you ever run the Motorola Software Update? If so, what did it do?
