Can anybody please tell me how can I get my phone to text it worked before but now it does not.

Try this
Click on Message Icon top of the phone,
Click on menu on the left of Compose,
Click on Service Setup,
key in +12063130004 for the Server Center Number
Choose NO for the Use GPRS
