  1. Default TransFlash Memory

    Hi all,

My phone is telling me i am out of memory and I think its the 8mb that built in is getting full, but i know i have more memory on the card. THe phone wont let me do anything because it tells me i have no memory. How do i move things to and from the memory card on this phone?

First you need to open file manager and navigate to the folder (eg the "MyImages", "MyAudio" folders) your files are in. The click and hold the file or folder you want to move, if you hold down a few second a menu will popup eventually. Choose the 'Move To' option and choose anywhere under the 'TransFlash' folder.

Better yet, for some applications (eg the camera) you can set the default folder. I changed them all to sub-folders inside my t-flash card

Beside the much larger size, i did that because all 'flash memory' has a limited number of times you can write on it. I assume the available 8mb is flash (since the content won't disappear even the battery is removed, unlike the ancient Palm...) and I don't want to trash it with excessive writes. On the other hand the memory card is replacable

is there anyway to have the 8MB that is built in, to automatically go to the memory card once it's full?

If anyone is confused, to basically combine the 2 and then that way i don't have to worry about where i save things.

what you are asking is on the OS level, and I don't think it is a good idea. For example do you want your files in your PC spill to the D: drive when your C: is full?

on the other hand, a technology does exist to create a large logical drive from a few smaller physical drives, we are talking about RAID 0... and no, i don't want to have a RAID array on my phone either...

It is not that hard to make the habit save everything on the memory card. however if the a1200's file manager allow you to set default directory (or remember the last openend dir) would be great

yes, essentially I was looking at having a RAID so I don't have 2 places to save things. Not that its hard, just that when it comes to my contacts, calendar, mms settings, email settings etc HAVE to be saved on the phone where everything else will be on my memory card. Pain for me, but I guess you can't do anything about. Thanks.
