Thread: A1200 Latest firmware - Post Findings Here!

  1. #1

    Default A1200 Latest firmware - Post Findings Here!

    UPDATE:

    The firmware has branched into two new tracks, beside the standard track. The new tracks are named C2 and H2. Both tracks have recently released new firmware versions:

    R532C2_G_11.30.07R, built in late July 2006.
    R532H2_G_11.20.07P, built in mid July 2006.

    In other news, the v53p version is out and packaged now:
    R532_G_11.00.53P, built late June 2006.

    check your version: in dial pad, dial WWW008W (to dial W, menu->Insert Wait).

    v48p:
    MotorolaFans

    v44p:
    MotorolaFans

    v43:
    http://www.motorolafans.com/Uploaded.../a1200_v43.rar

    v40:
    http://www.motorolafans.com/Uploaded.../a1200_v40.rar

    flashing procedure: boot phone into MBM (use the keyboard combination to start the phone) and use RSD Lite v2.4+.

    p.s. you can get the binary files for both bootloaders and codegroups 0,1,2,3,18,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,39,41,42,43,44 if you plug out the phone right after pressing 'start'. Modders can start changing fonts and adding binaries

    if anyone's interested, the file layout is:

    cg18 = some csf = 2048 bytes, padded
    cg31 = smth = 131072 bytes, padded
    cg32 = blob = 131072 bytes, padded
    cg33 = zImage = 1048576 bytes, padded
    cg34 = resource.img = 9437184 bytes, padded
    cg35 = userfs_db.img = 6291456 bytes, padded
    cg36 = userfs_general.img = 8388608 bytes, padded
    cg37 = secure_setup.img = 131072 bytes, padded
    cg39 = logo.img = 131072 bytes, padded
    cg41 = language.img = 6422528 bytes
    cg43 = setup.img = 131072 bytes, padded
    cg44 = rootfs_cramfs.img = 27262976 bytes, padded

    these are not certain, but probable:
    cg0 - erase_table
    cg1 - rootfs for testing (run without XIP)
    cg2 - zImage for testing (run without XIP)
    cg3 - blob for testing (run without XIP)

    cg42 = fota.img 6160384 bytes, padded

    p.p.s. it seems the kernel is run with the following arguments: "root=3e00 rootfstype=cramfs ip=off paniclog=on". (here, the ip=off simply tells the phone not to try to autoconfigure the ip address on its interfaces)

    p.p.p.s. for ppl that like dialpad codes like WWW008W, here are some more codes to tinker:
    WWW007W, WPP111W, *P00, *#06#, W01W01W,
    WWW009W, PPP113P1.

    Got the answer!!!

    Use Touchscreen Dial Pad / Insert Wait for (W) WWW008W

    I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that the new firmware would turn on the AGPS and EDGE. More like a wish!

    I've got firmware version 44 and there's definitely no edge support yet. Is there another forum or topic where firmware is discussed more in depth, especially in terms of how we can do fw upgrades with this phone.

    new version of what? i don't think 45 is out yet. My 44 doesn't seem to be any different that what other people have on their 43. is there someting in particular you're curious about.
