Thread: A1200 Voicemail Indicator Bug

    Default A1200 Voicemail Indicator Bug

    Hello All -

I'm a newbie to the site and just received my black A1200 on Friday. Love the phone and I'm really excited to learn more about seem editing and such, and I'm really glad I found this site.

With that said the only issue I have with the phone currently is the voicemail indicator thingy, which it seems many people are experiencing here in the US. I am on Cingular and my voicemail indicator icon doesn't stop flashing after I receive a voicemail. I can manually clear the alert but the next time I get a new voicemail it adds another "pending" voicemail to the queue and doesn't get rid of the indicator unless I do it manually. I have gotten a few blank SMS messages also after checking voicemail.

From what I've read it appears that people also experienced this issue on other overseas motorola's and were able to resolve the problem with a seem edit...

Any news on how to fix this on the A1200?

Some people here claimed this as a "Know Bug" while at the same time said someone has this problem someone don't.

Well, this looks to me as a very good evidence that the bug is with your service provider instead of the phone!!! Think harder, people....

btw i don't have this problem

You might have hit the nail on the head on this one pangduckwai. I've only heard of Cingular users having this problem. Are the Tmobile users having this problem?

^^^ I thought it was the other way around. I have no problems when I pop in my Cingular SIM, but I do get the blank texts when I use my T-Mo SIM

I have the same problem with the T-Mobile. I hope someone can come up with a solution. It look like the setting instead of a bug on the provider nor the phone. For those that work, can you guys post up the setting on the phone? It would be great if someone can do that so we all can compare. Thanks allllllll.

I'm a "Former AT&T customer" (still using AT&T SIM) and my 明 behaves correctly with their voicemail.

I get a voicemail, I get the blinking ! at the top center. I press it, have it call VM, clear the VM, the blinking ! disappears after the call.

One hint though, the last time AT&T rebuilt my service they configured it for 3G using a Motorola A845 3G phone, YMMDV.

I have this problem, too. The "!" appears whenever I power up the 明; I also receive a blank text message whenever I pick up a new voice message. This is with Cingular.

I've just been hitting the "Clear" button to remove the "!".

I had this problem with an unlocked v600 (ebay) about a year ago. Cingular couldn't help with the problem. Then I got a Razr and got into the whole flashing and flexing thing. So I then I put a Cingular flex on the v600, then the problem went away! I haven't got to play with my Ming yet (coming from china) so I don't know what kind of software it has. But with other moto's you can press *#9999# and it will show you all of it's info (s/w version, flex version, h/w version). So until there is a cingular flex (?) for the ming there probably will always be that bug! I think! At least that's what it was for the v600. Hope we can figure it out.
