well if you have transferred hwtool to root of SD now open up Ekonsole
    type
    cd /mmc/mmca1
    chmod +x hwtool
    ./hwtool

this will show you help menu of hwtool that what commands you can use ... basically you will be using
    ./hwtool -b (Battery status)
    ./hwtool -c 5 7 (charging the battery)
./hwtool -C 5 7 (charging the battery with trickle method)
I don't know if this thing really means calibrating or not but this can be used to test battery charging with multiple current values

Hmm no.. this is not calibrating.

Calibrating means a process that "reset" the battery. This process delete all the unnecessary files and can increase the performance of the battery.

It's like wiping the battery (instead of firmware/rom)

Example: I use "Battery calibration" on my Nexus One (Android) after a full charge.
