Default Ming Freezing

I've had my phone for 2 years and haven't really had a problem. It was only until a couple a months ago that my phone would start freezing. It freezes when I'm running an application (i.e. the snowboarding game), when I'm messaging too fast, when I try to look at my videos, etc. Sometimes, it freezes and doesn't hang up when I end call.

Usually I have to open the battery case reset the battery and turn it back on.

The only change I've made to the phone is upgrading the mini-sd card to 2 gigs. I thought that was the problem, so I switched back to stock card, but it's still freezing up.

I've searched through the threads and found that most of everyone's freezing problems are due to modifications. However, I haven't done any of that.

It freezes at least once a day. I need help with this, before I smash my phone against the wall.

Try a master reset on your phone and see if it helps. Otherwise, look for your stock firmware here on the MotorolaFans firmware section (if it's present, some stock ones are not there) or for a slight modification of your stock one and reflash your phone with it. If both suggestions fail, then you should have it checked by Motorola.

Don't go smashing your phone to the wall yet.. at least not until you try all of the above

With a master reset, would I lose my contacts and text messages?

You shouldn't - that's where a 'master clear' comes in.

Can you telnet or ssh into the phone? If so, you could run "top" to see if something is hogging CPU time.

You could also check to see how much memory is free. Sometimes a bad program will grab memory and not release it when finished with it(memory leak).

Lightbulb Hard Flash

do a hard flash by pressing the vr key and inserting your usb cable while your phone is turned off...do ref. flashing guide.
i would refer any nice firmware on the C2 track.
&
you can have a complete backup of contacts, messages, other things by using SUPER ASSISTANT or other kind of softwares..check out the application section.

master clear is better than the master reset this will just set all your data back to default. If that does not work you will need to flash,it does not seem like an app problem.
