Default question about touch screen with google maps

I downloaded google maps but some of the touch screen functions are not working. For example, when using "get directions" the application gives the first step and then I have to select "next" in order to get the next step. Touching the screen doesn't work, using the select on joystick doesn't do anything, displaying the dialpad and touching 3 doesn't do anything.
I read somewhere else on motorolafans.com that touch screen doesn't work correctly on google maps and that the map program to use with A1200 is mgm (?)
Any guidance?

here is what i did:

1. downloaded Active Perl, wget (u can find it on google) MapTileCacher the .perl script, mgmaps .jad and .jar files;
2. install first Active Pearl (C:\Perl);
3. copy wget.exe to C:\Perl\bin;
4. go to MapTileCacher.perl script (don't have to change .perl to .pl, but it works like that also) and select 'open with' -> C:\Perl\bin\perl (perl command line interpreter);
5. input: choise, zoom, coords, etc. ;
6. got MGMapsCacheV1\YahooMap_14\0...96 (i choose YahooMaps);

etc...

I have problems installing this application mgmaps...
I selected the JAD file because i read that I have to install from the JAD file cuz the signature is there... but my phone gives an error "Installation Failed. Package Invalid" .... Do I have to install it to the phone? because I've only tried to install it to my transflash card..... what do I do?

On the other hand, I have no problems downloading the maps from activePerl, the tutorial was helpful there... but i can't check if the maps work or not cuz I can't even get mobile google map to install....

help plz

For our mings, we have to install the .jar files.
You will find the installation instructions for Motorola A1200 here:

http://forum.mgmaps.com/viewtopic.php?t=725

(MGMaps forum index -> announcements -> installations instructions for MGMaps with stored maps) - sticky

follow step by step. it will work (worked for me).

good luck

However, I'm having problems using the search, get directions and any function that helps me search for a place...

I d/l the entire map of toronto at zoom 17 and d/ling zoom16 and zoom15 right now... but i tried to search for cn tower and other addresses within toronto and i keep gettin a message to ask for permission for the internet... am i suppose to accept that request? or how am i suppose to search in offline mode?

I think that is more a MGMaps question than an A1200 question. You may get a faster (and better?) response on the MGMaps forum at http://forum.mgmaps.com.

For Gmaps to read the location of cace maps you need to put the NAME of your SD Card as root ex:

If my sd card´s name is "Rui" and path to map cache is "1/MGMapCache"
then map cache location is: /Rui/1/MGMapCache
