Default 25P Firmware Thread

Just got my phone and I'm loving it. I checked the firmware and was prepared for the 25P f/w, so no surprise here.

Anyway I've been scouring the forums to find some info on the 25P f/w, but was not able to find a whole lot on it. Therefore I was thinking of creating a thread for the sole purpose of learning more about the firmware and updating the info as we learn more about it. I'm thinking along the lines of listing down some pros and cons regarding 25P compared to the other f/w available. Also a list of possible modifications which can be done on the f/w since MPKG and such are not possible...yet. So let's kick things off:

Pros
-Able to change 4 shortcuts on homescreen. (Still can't change the alerts shortcut)
-Speaker volume seems to have increased. (Or else the rest of you are partially deaf. The volume is pretty damn loud even on 5. ) (Submitted gbo)
-Camera quality seems to have been improved. (Submitted gbo)
-Can install MPKG (Need to flash with yan0's 25p MPKG Installer)

EDIT for MPKG:

It took some work and some sweat:
1. Install RSD Lite 3.5
2. Unpack the RAR for the A1200_25P°æ±¾°²×°MPKG.rar to get the folder called 'For_25P_yan0'.
3. Launch the RSD lite 3.5 (if you are using RadioComm... the USB drivers are the same.)
4. Your PC may load and install the drivers as needed... don't worry just let it automatically install.
5. Select the For_25P_yan0 file and let the software go through it's cycle. Do not disturb it. It will got to 100% and then do another cycle. When the software says success, you can disconnect.
6. Turn off phone and back on.
7. Remove card tp PC (if it says card locked) and copy the .System folder from yan0.rar.
8. Copy the MTF.pkg and iPhone.mtf to the card.
9. Put card back in Phone.
10. Go to File browser application and navigate to the card. Select MTF.pkg and hold down the stylus until the popup menu appears. Select 'Open With' and then when the app list comes up select MPKG.
11. You will hear 2 beeps and the phone will restart. Don't turn off the phone manually until it is done.
12. Turn the phone off and back on.
13. Go to File browser application and navigate to the card. Select iPhone.mtf and hold down the stylus until the popup menu appears. Select 'Open With' and then when the app list comes up select MTF.
14. Phone will beep twice. Wait ~10 seconds after beeps. Turn off phone and back on.
15. You will now have the iPhone theme installed.
- You can find more info by searching on this forum. I am not attaching the iPhone theme due to Apple copyright. You can find it by googling. I did attach the Vista theme. It comes with MTF in the package. Thanks to the amazing authors of the two themes and yan0.

****The instructions are at your own risk. I assume no responsibility for improper install and bricked phones******
Files are at in the other thread:

Cons
???

Mods Possible
-Seem editing
-Install Java Programs
-Install MPKG Files (So far MTF and ZMPlayer have been tested)

Mods Not Possible

Anyone else think of anything to add? I'm just hoping this can clarify some things and as more info is added, perhaps some development for the 25P can be done. Also we can update the sticky later regarding the different F/W as new info is added here.

So 25P users, post any info you'd care to share and such. Perhaps people can try out things too, like experimental editing and such to see if programs can be adapted for this F/W. Cheers!

(I hope people think this is a good idea, at least I think it is. Anyways please contribute!)

Additional pros:

sound: i dont think a sound mod is needed as it is pretty loud

Edited with additional Pros.

Just tried the MPKG for E6 and it showed up, but didn't install any PKG files. I put on the root of the SD and did the "open with" MPKG, nothing. Managed to take everything off and back to square one.

Let's add more info people!

I have the same problems... MPKG installer does not work, nor Lin Loader... and I have also .25p firmware.

So, I cant install any linux daemon like ssh, telent... etc. (it would be great if I can access the A1200 shell to install via shell box)

Do you think the only way we have uptoday is change the firmware?

Thanks,

S.

Unfortunately as of now, those with 24p and 25p f/w are stuck with them until someone develops a way to reflash the f/w to a different one. Hopefully it's in the works now and perhaps a future modification of the 25p/24p f/w will allow for MPKG usage and such.

I am not sure it's a true statement about the MPKG & the LIN.
I got the 24xp installed on my phone and I got practically (almost) every possible software installed on it including MPKG & LIN...!

Interesting! Would you mind posting your MPKG installer? I tried the Rokr E6 and the yan0's version and both were no-go. Perhaps your is different? As for differences between 24p running it and 25p, I'm not sure. I think 24p is able to use MPKG, but not 25p. Would you mind posting it anyway?

I believe it's a Bint's modification of the 24p china branded f/w. It's seems to have the features (or at least some) of the 25p, plus MPKG works with it. However if you already have 25p, I don't believe you can change your firmware yet.
