I wanted to write this because there is a very big lack of information about this firmware and the new users like me do not have any idea about wich programs, applications and things we can do to our A1200E without harming it.

The only MPKG installer that has worked for me by now is SmartAss and I can mod a lot with it (highly recommended)

All the java applications work perfect as in any other A1200

You are going to have little troubles with the contacts and the sms reading the names... it can be solved using the MyStuff application and editing a little bit some commands.

If you need any of the applications links just post here or do a little reasearch in the forum and you will find how to install them

From the guide to Firmwares and flashing:

R541_G_11.56.09R - first reported Dec 2007 by a few users in the USA and Canada. See this thread. Phones with this fw are also reported to have a small slot for attaching a handstrap on the top left corner of the handset (opposite the stylus).

• Camera Quality - 2.0 Megapixel camera, up to 1200x1600 pixels (includes macro)

• Volume - Good
• Internet Connectivity speed - unknown
• All 4 shortcuts changeable on home screen - Yes
• Languages - English and Chinese (Handwriting, Pinyin and Zhuyin boards)
Advantages:
• Skin - 3 themes, theme name1(grey scale), theme name2(white, grey, blue), theme name3(electric blue and grey)
• Video - up to 352x288
• Screen 3 - unknown
• Run multiple java apps at same time - Yes
• Reported as being Quad-band.
Disadvantages:
• Realplayer - no equalizer
• Superman/MPKG/SmartAsst - none of these work on this fw!

take a look at section 10 of the FAQ there you will find installation instructions for smartass (smart assistant) and a download link

Sorry again, can you direct me a good and easy to install application i can install on my a1200 with smartass pls?

I followed all the steps, Overwrite the downloaded files(.system) to my phone .system, click on many types of pkg and open with smartass but it always says

Invalid application file
File cannot be used

Is there anything else i need to do or could i have made any mistakes?

if you are just trying to be able to install .PKG files you can use wondermoto2, if you WANT smartass, you will be able to easily install it using wondermoto...instructions and file are available in the link
