Default Firmware: R541_g_11.56.11r

Hello everyone, I just received my A1200E from smart mobile gadgets, and it came with the r541_g_11.56.11r firmware. I was wondering if anyone has reported this FW yet. I searched and couldn't find any info on it.

So far this is what I have noticed.

The good:
It's pretty stable and quick.
Battery Life average (1+ day so far)
Volume is good.
3 video modes.
Quad band already enabled.
All four shortcuts changeable.
Camera autosave with flip closed.
VR is pretty good...coming from an American.
Talking Phone enabled.
Of course Edge enabled by default.

The Bad:
No FM Radio with flip closed.
No silent camera/recorder.
No Screen 3.
3 USB Modes (Modem, Sync, and Mass Storage)
I can't get SuperMan or SmartAsst to install.

I will add more as I find more, but I believe that sums it up. Anyone seen this FW before? Any questions about it? It sucks that there isn't a backup utility for our FW.

Quick question about SEEM editing. How does xlr8's SEEM map compare to the one on our phones? Also, I would like to enable some of the things in the Bad list. Is this possible, or are they FW dependent? Can anyone help with the SuperMan or SmartAsst install?

Thanks for the writeup, Stabbicus - I have added it to Guide to Firmware sticky. You are the first to have reported this fw. Where did you purchase phone?

Regarding Superman/Smart Asst install - many people have attempted to get these working on the A1200E firmwares - but with no success. Suspected Motorola has deliberately done something to prevent these or any PKG installer from working!

I really don't know why they want to prevent that on an opensource phone...

Hey, no problem. I purchased the phone from smartmobilegadgets.com. I noticed that there were only a few FW's that allow SuperMan and SmartAsst to be installed. Both of those were from yan0, I believe. I also saw that ccmove has my FW on the site as well. It's a bit of a drawback (not being able to install SuperMan and SmartAsst) and I'm probably going to flash it. It just blows because I really like this FW. It's super stable and fast. I know this is going to sound cliche' and yes I have read the FW sticky, but I need advise from someone who has flashed their A1200E with a couple different FW's as to which one they think is the best.

I still can't believe there is no way for us to back up our firmware. That's almost unacceptable. I came here from the P2K phones...v3, v3i, slvr, etc. and that was a must, it also let people publish their own "monsterpack" with the features they wanted enabled.

hey stabbicus n nice to see u

well the fw that u have on your phone is very similar to the fw that developing on motofan.ru. there you can find many infos about but the fact is that you wont be able to install superman or any pkg app on this fw whatever you do.
so you have to flash to access these feautures on your phone. search a bit around the forum and of course the sticky thread located on Firmwares under A1200 Discussion to see which fw is suitable for your needs.

hope i helped
see ya

Yes - if you know how to do this, tmp_do, then please do a writeup on it - and I will add to sticky immediately , as many people have asked how to do this!
