Default INFO: Firmware: R541_g_11.52.14r_u2

Just report what we are done firmware with new flash map (JFFS2 partitions with r\w access).
So, there are no more restrictions for modding ;)

Could explain to the noob' who don't develop at all , what is it good that the root folder can be edit ?

this is nothing for noobs or end users.
this is a goodie/improvement for users/modders who wants to have access to the whole system.

would this enable someone to write a program to send or recieve faxes? i would realy like to even use the phone as a modem for my computer to send or recieve faxes.
